Programnote

Programnote

"Das verlassne Mägdelein is a trilogy consisting of the works "Music for Ensemble", "4 Re-mix for Ensemble" and "Song for piano and Ensemble", all written spring 2007.
The threee movments can all be played separately. The middle movement, "4 Re-mix.." consists in itself of for movements. Four arrangements of classiscal pieces originally written by D.Buxtehude, W.A.Mozart, R.Schumann (and yes, it is "Das verlassne Mägdelein) and the Danish composer Niels Viggo Bentzon.
The title of the trilogy is to me a meeting point of all the energy and sadness in this almost one hour long stream of music.
Besides all metaphysical considerations theres is also a small scenic effect. In the last movement the harp is not part of the music. She (yes, it must be a "she") is sitting on the stage, but without playing. Quite "verlassen".
