Programnote

    "Som Sang..." kobler saxofonernes kvarttonemelodik med den vokale stemme. Ideelt set fremtræder mezzosopranen som en femte stemme, der danner kontrapunkt til de fire saxofoner. Det er altså en integreret sats, der har foresvævet mig og ikke en gang dame-melodi med akkompagenement. Stofligt set er det stadig Ghostlands, eller retteres Ghostlands som den kommer til udtryk i While Angels Sleep, der spøger. Mezzosopranstemmen er indflettet i det, der i Ghostlands er 3. sats, og i While Angels Sleep er anden del. Altså 2. sats af In the Dead of Night. - Confused? you won´t be after next episode of....

The counterpoint of the mezzosoprano is a poem "Portamento" written by Pia Tafdrup, taken from her collection of poems called "Territorialsang".

Programnote

    "As Song..." mixes the qaurtertone melodies of the sax 4-tet with a human voice. The material is the second movement of In the Dead of Night, with certain cuts and prolongiations. That is, the music of Ghostlands third movement has been slightly altered so that it's not just second half of While Angels Sleep + voice. Confused? You won't be after me telling you, that this is an exemple of super ecological recycled music. The mezzosoprano should, by the way, not stand out as a soloist, but should mingle with the saxophone parts.
